TALOS- A Dual Protection/ Detection System
The FBI Bomb Data Center (BDC) issued a report of 1997 bombing incidents that portrays unnerving statistics concerning bombings of all types, including car or vehicle bombings. The BDC began as the National Bomb Data Center in 1970. It was originally funded through the Law Enforcement Assistance Administration and managed by the International Association of the Chiefs of Police. In 1972, the administration of the program was transferred to the FBI. According to the 1997 Bombing Incidents Report, of the 2,217 incidents, 284 involved vehicle bombing of either incendiary or explosive devices. Damages resulting from these incidents reached $1,476,546, second to all other listed targets. The threat of car bombs is a reality that must be addressed as aggressively as other possible displays of violence. Paper entitled Security Against Bomb Incidents, published by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) makes the following suggestions: Bombs being delivered by car or left in a car are a grave reality. Parking should be restricted, if possible, to 3000 feet from your building or any building in a complex. If restricted parking is not feasible, properly identified employee vehicles should be parted closest to your facility and visitor vehicles parked at a distance. The ATF offers sound advice but in many cases more assertive security measures must be taken. Vindicator Technologies, located in Austin, Texas provides such a solution. Since 1973, Vindicator Technologies has been developing and manufacturing electronic security products for the protection of people and property including car bomb detection. These security systems are in use today by United States Army, Navy and Air Force facilities; at Federal, State and local correctional institutions; and at various industrial sites, including hospitals, colleges, manufacturing plants, warehouses and office buildings. Vindicator Technologies, in association with its investment partners, manufacture and market TALOS, one of the most comprehensive car bomb detectors available today. TALOS is the only known detector of certain types of attached Improvised Explosive Devices (IED's) or monitoring devices planted on a vehicle underbody. To a standard sedan car, eight sensors are fitted within the vehicle and provide protection for the entire underbody area. TALOS is a dual protection/ detection system. It not only detects IED's, but also provides a visual alert if anyone has been tampering with the hood, trunk or doors. TALOS utilises 'state of the art' CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) Technology to provide the most advanced detection systems of its type available in the world today. The system also provides for discreet installation and is easily transferable to new vehicles. The system includes an input which, when connected to the vehicles' chassis, will give an alarm warning indication. The input is normally 12-volt DC high impudence. It can be attached to vehicle circuits such as interior light systems. Additional switches may be added to other locations if not fitted as standard. The name TALOS appropriately comes from the Greek Mythological character Talos, The Man of Bronze who became the guardian of Crete, circling the island three times each day and throwing stones at any ship which approached its shores. There is nothing mythical about Vindicator's modern day TALOS, which has been proven as a reliable and effective car bomb detection system worldwide.

Partner Launches the New K 3600 Ring Saw- The Only Power Cutter in the World With a 260mm Cutting Depth
Partner is launching its new Ring Saw, the Partner K 3600. The K 3600 is a power cutter with truly unique characteristics and perform-ance. Because its blade is driven from its periphery, and not its centre, it can cut 10 inches deep with just a 14 inch blade. Add to that, its unique power to weight ratio and the fact that it is hydraulically powered, and you have a hand-held cutter which is exceptionally efficient and easy to use. The Partner K 3600 has a wide range of applications and can cut both steel-reinforced concrete and brick. Exceptional cutting depth, high capacity and no time wasted on setting up are factors which help make the K 3600 one of the most productive tools on the market. Remarkable benefits of off-centre drive None of the depth limitations of blades driven from an arbor apply to this cutter. Off-centre drive means the blade can cut almost as deep as its own diameter. This remarkable feature lets you cut accurately through walls, ceilings or floors from just one side. Off-centre drive also means minimal over-cutting and therefore less restoration work afterwards. Building on past experiences from the K 3500 Partner based its design for the K 3600 on the successful K 3500 Ring Saw, but has incorporated numerous improvements. Full attention was given to feedback from Ring Saw users. Many of the technical solutions are patented, making the K 3600 unique amongst power cutters. The new K 3600 has a new and more powerful hydraulic motor, an adjustable front handle, an automatic water valve with easy access, and brand-new blade and spray guards. In addition this Ring Saw is extremely light and well balanced. It weighs just 7.9 kg. That is 2.5 kg less than its predecessor K 3500 - which obviously makes it easier to operate, especially when cutting horizontally.
